Step 30 International Ministries
Art Hope Foundation participated and supported the project “Used Shoes Save Lives Step 30”, organized by Care for Life Foundation, Step 30, 2016 by International Ministries, and FPC (Forgotten People Connection).
Cici Chen, the 2016 President of Art Hope Foundation, said she knew this project from one of the mentors, Mr. Chiang. In many countries of East Africa, adults and children walk in the desert bare feet due to poverty, and their feet are often infected by a type of bug called “Jigger”. This bug will burrow under the skin and toenails, and the infected individual might suffer amputations or die depending on severity.
Astonished by this fact, Cici decided to join this project, together with the help of the rest of Art Hope members. Tina Tsai is the Director of Care for Life Foundation, as well as this project’s initiator and organizer. Currently she is the Director of Integration Youth Services Society, and a Campaign Leader with World Vision Canada. In 2013, Tina became Canada’s Top One Fundraiser, and was the only Asian representative at the World Vision Global Campaign Leaders Conference. In January of 2015, she visited several poverty-stricken areas and orphanages in South Africa, and felt the helplessness of local children. As a result, Tina was determined to take this project to Vancouver, hoping more people can recognize the issue and help the people in need. Art Hope Foundation was founded in 2013. The members of the foundation are ardent art and design lovers who hope to bring about social awareness and fundraising for various charitable organizations. This year, it is their honour to be part of the “Used Shoes Save Lives” project initiative.
