High Five Africa

In 2017, our members of the Art Hope Foundation organized the "International Art Exchange Program-Africa Journey of Art and Music". The goal of this event is to help poor children in Kenya, Africa, and the beneficiary organizations are Metro World Child and Solehope. Through this activity, you can experience the culture and life experience from Africa, and at the same time offer your love to the children in need.

This international art exchange program hopes to raise funds and provide substantial help to children or students in need through different interactive activities and exhibitions of art works. Most charity groups raise money and give it directly to the groups in need. The cultural exchange we want to do is to allow students to learn more about the outside world, not only to allow students in Vancouver, Canada to learn more about life in Africa through this activity, we also need to let African children understand the multiculturalism of Canada.

This event mainly allows visitors to understand the difficulties of people‘s lives in Africa from four aspects: water resources, food, education and medical care. We have volunteers who have been to Africa to share their local life experiences, and there are volunteers from Kenya, Africa sharing video stories with children in Uganda. Carrying water bottles, an African food trial area, and a charity sale of small commodities. All proceeds from the charity sale will be donated to two charities: Solehope and Metro World Child.

In addition to the handicrafts of local African children and women, the charity sale products also include Soulmate handicrafts, Asha Nepali handicrafts, Aerostar clothes and handbags, Cozy environmentally friendly natural non-toxic handmade soaps, Metro World Child organization products, and a charity sale of English books organized by parents. Thanks to these organizations, volunteers and parents for their strong support.

Below are the volunteer experiences in Africa share by the organization.

We went to the school early in the morning to play watercolour painting with the children. The blessings for each child were written on the blue strips. We suddenly came up with the idea of painting the white canva with musical staffs, and then painted the children’s little palms with different colours and printed them. Each little hand weaves a beautiful work on the entire painting.

Make Bricks + Watercolour Painting + Face Painting Game

The children in this school are very lively. They have prepared many tools for us to make bricks early in the morning. Everyone rolled up their sleeves and started working with the children, adding water to concrete to make brick models. The bricks were placed in the house one by one waiting for drying, all these preparations are for the establish of the new school in the future. The previous ones were all made of iron sheets.

In the afternoon, I worked with the students in groups to do new watercolour paintings. I also painted watercolours on their faces. The colours on their faces looked particularly bright, plus the smile on their faces, together made such a wonderful look, each of their smily faces have been stored in my happy memories one by one.
